Prospect Spotlight: Luke Waters (2018)
A tough match-up for opposing teams, Olathe Northwest 2018 Luke Waters is putting together a solid spring competing for the KC Spurs.
A 6’5 forward, Waters has the ability to play inside, or stretch the defense with a terrific outside shooting stroke. He helped Olathe Northwest put together a 17-6 season and an appearance in the Class 6A state tournament for the first time in school history.
Waters led his squad in scoring and rebounding.
“I consider myself a versatile player who can’t post up favorable matchups but also step out and hit the 3, I like to get out in transition when possible and attack,” he says. “I feel like I grew as in terms of my on ball defense and understanding of the game.”
Waters does not currently have any offers but has taken unofficial visits to Pittsburg State, Washburn and Ottawa university.
He has spent the spring competing for the KC Spurs and hopes the opportunity will help raise his profile even more.
“This start of AAU has been good, I am on a new team and we are still working on playing together as a team but we are improving every game,” he says. “I hope to get looks for college this spring/ summer.”
A fan of the Golden State Warriors, Waters says his dad has been the biggest influence on his game
“My dad has taught me a lot of what I know and has always supported me and inspired me to be the best I can be,” Waters said. “I enjoy watching the warriors because of how well they share the ball and play together. I’ve learned more ways to impact the game besides scoring.”
