Prospect Spotlight: Jaquan Adams (2018)
Civic Memorial 2018 wing Jaquan Adams is a 6’2” shooting guard that is a power wing. He does almost all of his damage in the paint. The guard slashes to the hoop and is crafty getting in the lane. Not overly explosive, but has a feel for finding open spots where he can get his floater off. This is by far the strength of his game. Not a great jump shooter. Rebounds well for a guard. Adams is worth consideration at the D3/NAIA level for a team in need of a tough power guard.
Adams spoke about his junior season.
“My junior year I learned a lot. I had a lot of struggles early on. Then I kept praying and saying God is on my side. Eventually it worked out.”
He told us some of the areas he feels that he made strides this season.
“Really moving without the ball. That and my rebounding. I feel like my defensive play has gotten a lot better.”
He is playing with Gateway Illinois 17U on the travel team circuit.
“I am looking forward to a lot of wins. We are starting off now with some new guys and are moving into the system. I feel eventually we are going to win some championships.”
What are the strengths in his game?
“My quickness and getting to the basket.”
Nothing going on with recruiting. Should be looked at by small college programs.s
