Prospect Spotlight: Bjorn Knutson (2018)
MN Rise has been playing good basketball lately and the more success they have, the more attention they’ll get. One of the guys that can benefit from that is Byron shooting guard Bjorn Knutson.
Knutson was one of the top players at the Prep Hoops Stock Up Showcase in March and is an underrated outstate player who can score and defend at a high level on the wing.
At 6-foot-2 and armed with a strong frame and solid athleticism, there’s a lot to like about Knutson’s game. He excels as a spot up shooter but has the playmaking skills to attack hard closeouts and he’s an excellent transition scorer with or without the ball. He’s got good length and strength which allows him to defend multiple positions on the perimeter as well.
MN Rise is starting to play extremely well and while Knutson wasn’t at their recent tournament in Ames, he plays a key role and will continue to do so as the team progresses this summer.
“It’s going good,” said Knutson. “Our team has started playing well together. It was a bit of a struggle at first but we’ve started playing better lately.”
Knutson’s a multi-sport star at Byron and has received a lot of college football interest as well as basketball. He’s taken visits to Concordia University St. Paul, Augustana and Sioux Falls for football and has heard from schools including the University of Chicago, Gustavus, Sioux Falls and South Dakota School of Mines for basketball.
Knutson said he’s still undecided as to which sport he’s planning on playing.
