Prospect Profile: Grant Singleton (2018)
Some of the best guards in South Carolina have rolled through the SC Raptors organization coached by Lamont Simmons. Jawun Evans, Qua Copeland, Gage Ellis, Tyler Hooker to name a few have all went on to play college basketball. Evans is a projected firs-rounder in next months NBA Draft.
Grant Singleton PC:HoopSeenPlaying hard, playing fast, playing with heart and defense are some of the intangibles that Simmons relies on to make his offense flow. Grant Singleton is the next guard coming through the organization now under the name Team South Carolina.
This weekend at The Bob Gibbons Invitational, Singleton put on a show and showed why he should be considered one of the best guards in the state of South Carolina for the 2018 class.
HoopSeen Director Justin Young, had this to say about the promising prospect, “Grant Singleton of Team South Carolina has impressed with his play here at the Bob Gibbons Tournament of Champions. The 6-foot point guard is a dog on the defensive end and has caught our staff’s attention with his play. Singleton plays hard, is quick in the open floor, he can defend and he knows how to score the basketball. Another coach with the Team South Carolina organization, Mike Alexander had says, Grant is a solid all around player. Has good pace in transition and ball screen situations. Great on ball defender and makes his teammates better as a facilitator. On top of all that he can consistently knock down shots off the dribble or catch and shoot.”
The floor-general is gaining interest from lower level Division One teams at this point and would be an impact player at that level. He has a little of the old saying “dog in him.” He doesn’t back down from any opponent and thrives in that situation. He is a big-time shooter from the outside and keeps the ball on a leash. Two traits that Lamont Simmons’ coached guards have to be able to do. “He has an animal mentality on offense and defense. Very crafty with the ball in hand and has great range on his 3-point shot. He knows how to make the players around him better, ” Simmons said.
Some of the schools that are showing interest at this time in Singleton are Wofford, James Madison, Lipscomb, Army and Navy. He has an offer from Coker College.
