We Got Next: Sincere & Matt of Scotland County Hornets (2021)
We saw two youngsters this past weekend that have a chance to be a very special tandem in not only Eastern North Carolina but also in the State of North Carolina for the Class of 2021. The Scotland County Hornets as a team had an impressive showing throughout the event finishing with an outstanding record in Pool play and making it all the way to the 8th grade division Championship Game. Although the team was impressive as a whole their where two players in particular that stood out as potential stars for the future.
Scotland Hornets 2021 Point Guard Sincere Southern: You could tell as the teams were going through layup lines and warmups that this young man was going to be a very fun player to watch. He got some reactions from the crowd all day long with some silky smooth ball handling skills as well as some nice but difficult layups in traffic. He was one of the most impressive PG’s at the event, he’s already got the: height, size, ball handling ability and court vision which is special for a kid who is only an 8th grader. He also brought intensity on the defensive end of the floor coming up with steals and forcing turnovers throughout the tournament.
Scotland Hornets 2021 Shooting Guard Matthew Jones: Every good PG loves to have a gifted scorer next to him and that is exactly what this young man is to his backcourt buddy Sincere. Matt can score the ball in multiple ways, he can knock down the deep ball consistently and get to the cup at will using his speed and length. You can already see some athleticism from him as well that he uses not only to score quickly in transition but also on the defensive end of the floor coming up with steals and blocked shots.
