Dakota Prospects at the Pentagon: 17U Standouts
Prep Hoops Dakotas was on hand at the Pentagon over Memorial Day weekend and saw a ton of talent. Here are the 17U prospects from North and South Dakota that impressed.
Ian Shafer– Bismarck- Shafer has great control of the ball and sees the floor extremely well. He has great awareness on defense as he got multiple steals or deflections on balls. Shafer also has great awareness on offense by distributing and creating for his teammates.
Jayce Archambault is very quick guard that mostly took his opponents off the dribble all the way to the hoop. He looks to push the ball opportunistically and dish to his streaking teammates down floor. He has a high motor on both offense and defense making his opponent never able to rest while he’s in.
Kade Amundson– Bismarck Century- Amundson is a slim 6’7, but all out playmaker. He is relentless on offense and defense. He is crafty and a good finisher at the rim on one side of the floor, then saves a loose ball from going out of bounds and locks up his opponent on the other.
Joe Pistorius– West Fargo- Pistorius handles the ball well and is an all out scorer. He is an athletic guard and his game consists of him putting it on the floor and creatively finishing among taller defenders. He also has great defensive awareness and will intercept or deflect poor passes.
Aaron Fiegen– Madison- Fiegen is a high IQ player that is very versatile at 6’7. He has the ability to finish through or around contact and has a high motor on the boards and will not rest until his team comes up with it. Fiegen is one if the top shooters from the weekend from pull ups to pick and pop to set shots he let it fly. He cuts well and will post up smaller defenders and score over them for easy buckets.
AJ Plitzuweit– Vermilion- Plitzuweit sees the floor incredible well and is always looking to push the ball and find his teammate for an easy two points. He has the capability to shoot the long ball, but he only takes it when he’s open. Plitzuweit can take it all the way to the hole and finish smoothly with a layup or floater.
Trevor Hanson– Sioux Valley- Hanson has a lanky 6’8 frame that he uses to his advantage. He is a nice back to the basket post player scoring off of middle hooks and drop steps to the baseline. Hanson can also move out to the three and shoot it off pick and pops and trailing from fast breaks. He makes the defense always box out as he is always crashing. On defense he gets most of the team’s rebounds and will block shots from help side.
Mason Larson– Langford- Larson is athletic and an excellent slasher and hard worker at 6’7. He is a forward that can not be forgotten by the defense or he will get the ball and go around the opponent for a quick two points. Larson can also step out and shoot the three on set shots.
