Bash in the Desert: Friday Night Stock Risers
The Bash in the Desert is well underway. Tonight saw some top tier players take the floor. In addition, there were a number of talented players who were on display who are under the radar. Below are some of the top stock risers from the first night.
Bash in the Desert – Stock Risers
Dhol Majak 6’10 PF/C 2018 Ironwood (AZ Hype)
In Majak’s only game of the night, he almost walked away with a triple-double with points, rebounds, and blocks. Although he is still raw in certain areas of his game, he demonstrated that his motor, toughness, and length are game changers while the rest of his skills develop. Add to it, he has a smooth shot and can shoot the basketball from deep at a high level. Majak could be a player who ends up on a lot of stock risers reports as he continues to improve.
Bryce Fitzgerald 6’6 PF/C 2020 Spring Valley (Las Vegas Knicks)
Fitzgerald, like Majak, is still a little raw in certain areas. However, he is a strong prospect who has a good motor and soft hands. He finishes well around the rim and competes at a high level. He does a great job on the glass and rotating in help side. Although he has work to do, he has an extremely high ceiling. It will be fun to watch him develop over this weekend and over his high school career.
Brandon Savage 6’8 PF/C 2019 Deer Valley (Arizona Classics)
Savage might have been the most improved prospect of the first night of action. His motor looked quite improved as he was doing a good job of building a wall on the defensive end of the floor while crashing the glass on the offensive end for easy put backs. In addition, he did a good job of moving without the basketball to put his guards in a position to give him dump off passes.
Keontae White 6’2 PG 2018 (Team Harden)
White is new to the area but has made an immediate impact. He creates shots for himself at an extremely high level while doing a great job of breaking down the first defender and making good reads at the second level. White has a good skillset that affords him the opportunity to be productive in an array of spots on the floor.
Saad Ali 6’2 PG/SG 2017 Copper Canyon (AZ Hype)
Ali was solid for the majority of the game. He demonstrated an ability to be a combo guard who does more than a traditional guard. He gets after it on the glass, can guard 1-3, and is not afraid to attack the paint. In addition, he has a high basketball IQ and plays extremely hard.
