Around the State: Anderson County (2018)
Prep Hoops continues it trip around the state with a stop in Anderson County. Anderson is the home of Larry Nance former Clemson and NBA player. Here are some players from Anderson County in the Class of 2018. T.L. Hanna HS is where the movie “Radio” was based out of featuring Cuba Gooding Jr.
AJ Bryant T.L. Hanna (Anderson)
Bryant 6’4 guard. Bryant also plays football for the Yellow Jackets as a Strong Safety and Wide Receiver. Bryant averaged 11.2 ppg. Bryant hauled in 35 passes for 561 yards and four touchdowns this year. Bryant has offers from Union College and Indiana State for football.
Brylan Peterson T.L. Hanna (Anderson)
Peterson 5’11 guard also plays football and baseball for the Yellow Jackets. Peterson averaged 7.5 ppg for the Yellow Jackets. Peterson and Bryant will look on to help the defend their region 1-5A title.
Zy Scott Belton-Honea Path (Honea Path) (Photo on the Front)
Scott 6’2 combo guard averaged 11.1 ppg for the Bears. Scott was named to the 1-4A all-region team this year. Scott will played for Upward Stars Upstate 17u Blue in AAU this spring.
Trey McGowens Wren (Piedmont)
McGowens 6’3 point guard averaged 18.3 ppg for the Hurricanes this past season. McGowens led the Hurricanes to Class 4A State Championship Game. McGowens currently has over 20 scholarship offers. McGowens will be leaving Wren to go to Hargrave Military Academy (Chatham, VA) in the fall. McGowens plays for Team United (NC) on the Nike EYBL circuit and has ran with Team South Carolina.
Qushawn Brown – Powdersville
Brown 5’10 guard averaged 10.6 ppg for the Patriots. Brown will look to lead the Patriots on the floor and help them move up the Region 2-3A standing.
Grayson Davis – Powdersville
Davis averaged 9.6 ppg and grabbed 4.4 rebounds last season. Davis 6’3 small forward can shoot the ball from the mid-range. Davis plays AAU with Team Impact.
Mason Brown – Anderson Christian
Brown 5’10 point guard can shoot the mid-range jumper or spot up for a open look. Brown plays with a good feel for the game. Brown averaged 10.9 ppg this season for the Lions.
Mondreacus Clark – Anderson Christian
Clark can also shoot from anywhere on the floor for the Lions. Clark also help the Lions finished runner-up in SCISA Class A. Clark 6’0 shooting guard averaged 15.3 ppg for the Lions this season. Clark connected on (59-176) from three point range. Clark started his high school career at Westside HS.
Quintin Moulterie – Anderson Christian
Moulterie is a power forward that uses his body to his advantage. Moulterie plays with his back to the basket or can step-out and hit the elbow jumper. Moulterie is 6’4 (230) that averaged 11.5 ppg and grabbed 7.9 rebounds this past season for the Lions. Moulterie plays AAU with his fellow teammates on the South Carolina Raptors Elite.
