Spring Warmup Day 2 Standouts
BOWIE, MD — The DC Blue Devils Spring warmup got underway at Bowie City Gym on Saturday, and we were in the gym for a full day of action. Here is a look at five players who stood out.
‘18 ANTHONY DOUGLAS | 17U FAIRFAX STARS
Anthony Douglas had a solid game on both ends of the floor on Sunday. The hard-working 6’8 big man repelled a host of shots at the rim, and showed nice touch inside 10 feet offensively.
‘19 CARLOS DUNN | 16U BUMP N RUN
Carlos Dunn shot the ball well from the perimeter, but also did a nice job mixing it up and seeking contact in the lane. The sturdily-built sophomore defended well, and is learning to lead and control the game as a point guard.
‘20 COREY DYCHES | 15U TEAM DURANT
Corey Dyches is an excellent offensive player, but his defense is probably better. Owning broad-shoulders and long arms, Dyches has a chance to fill out his frame and become more dominant as he continues to grow into his body.
‘18 MYLES JONES | 17U NEW WORLD VA
Myles Jones scored 16 very efficient points against the DC Blue Devils UAA squad on Sunday, and he did it from a variety of spots on the court. Jones showed strength and creativity when finishing around the rim in traffic.
‘18 MONTEZ MATHIS | 17U TEAM BBC
Much has been said about the depth of the local 2018 wing class, but Montez Mathis is definitely in the conversation when considering the top tier. The strong 6’5 junior is very explosive, and rebounds exceptionally well from his position.
