Rockwell All-Star Game 2A vs. 3A
The 2A vs. 3A Rockwell All-Star Game featured a few players that at times get overlooked because they play in a smaller classification. It was prevalent that both teams wanted to win and show who was best. The 3A Team beat the 2A team 95-93 as the 2A All-Stars couldn’t get a quality shot off at the buzzer. The two players that everyone wanted to see were 6’6 unsigned athlete Steven Price of Juan Diego Catholic High School who is turning heads and picking up National JUCO attention. Price did not disapoint as he flew through the air to dunk a few highlight type baskets and nearly mad a put back that would’ve cleared the gym, Price had 12 points. 6’6 Trey Farrer of Pine View High School is also unsigned prospect that is being coveted at the moment by many schools didn’t disappoint as he had 5-6 dunks and a few in traffic that got the crowd off their feet, Farrer had 16 points. The player that stole the show was 6’1 G Keenan Nielson of Cedar High School, who came up big as he hit three late 3’s from deep to steal the game away from the 2A team. Nielson had 17 points and hit 5 three-pointers.
Rockwell MVP, Trey Farrer of Pine View High School
Prep Hoops MVP, Keenan Nielson of Cedar High School
Ben Mendoza of Ben Lomond played a solid game with 13 points and JD Ahlstrom of Juan Diego Catholic High School put up 8 points.
Tan Esiley of Juan Diego Catholic is a impressive PG that is a high academic kid but would do so well at a D3.
The 2A Team had three very impressive undervalued and under the radar players in 6’6 F Koby Butler of Emery who had 22 points to lead all scorers. Butler could be a good NAIA or JUCO player. 5’11 PG Gavin Rindlisbacher of Summit Academy had an impressive showing as he can play defense, run the point and score, Gavin had 16 points. He is currently looking at playing for D3, Redlands University in California. 6’2 CG Christians Gutierrez of Layton Christian has a great motor but is an undersized forward in a guards body. Christians will likely need a JUCO year.
