Recruiting Report: Jackson Tanner (2019)
Latin 2019 post Jackson Tanner is a 6’7” power forward that has an angular build. Once he continues to add strength over the next couple years he should be an intriguing post prospect. The post has skill potential on the block. Good footwork and loves to use a hook shot. Would like to see more vertical explosion. Tanner is a plus offensive rebounder that has a feel for where they come off the glass. Runs the floor tremendously well. He can struggle a bit with length at times. Tanner has D1 potential.
Tanner spoke about his sophomore season at Latin.
“We are a young team so we didn’t know what to expect at first. We had some veterans though that led the team. We got to the regional final. We lost to DePaul. We beat Al Raby and that game showed us what we are capable of. Even though the record didn’t show it a lot of those games showed us what we are capable of. Next year we want to win ISL and regionals. We have a bright future ahead of us.”
He talked with us about the development in his game over the last year.
“It is going good. I am excited for next year. I think my role with expand. I am developing more post moves, but also improving my face up game. A lot of face up moves and my shot is getting better. I am hoping to jump a little better so I can throw it down.”
Young and Reckless is the team Tanner will be running with on the circuit.
“I am so excited. They are really good. They are a bunch of killers on that team.”
Tanner showed well at the PrepHoopsIllinois Stock Up Showcase.
“I like the coaches and how we are doing plays. It builds a lot of structure. That is nice.”
