Prospect spotlight: Will Eames (2018)
Armed with an array of offensive moves, Lee’s Summit 2018 forward Will Eames is off to a strong start to the grassroots campaign with KC Elite after a strong showing at the Route 66 Kick Off in Oklahoma City.
A 6’6 wing player who has a high basketball IQ, Eames showed in Oklahoma City he is a threat to shoot from anywhere and can get hot at any time. He can post up, create off the bounce and is a willing passer.
He put together a well-rounded stat line for a young Lee’s Summit team this season, averaging 8 points, 5 rebounds, 2 steals and a block per game.
A fan of the New York Knicks’ Kristaps Porzingas, Eames says his high school coach Blake Little and his AAU coach David Spruell have had the biggest impact on his basketball career.
“They both gave me confidence and both help realize my potential,” he said.
Eames says he has enjoyed competing with KC Elite so far and is spending the offseason working on his strength and agility.
“I’ve been able to score and find my shot while also getting wins,” he said. “I feel if I can improve on (strength and agility) I will make a big jump as a player.”
Eames says he has not yet heard from colleges, but hopes to continue his playing career at the next level and hopes a strong summer will garner interest.
