Prospect Spotlight: Keenon Cole (2019)
Streamwood explosive 6’6” sophomore power forward Keenon Cole plays with a never ending motor! He showed out at the recent PrepHoopsIllinois Stock Up Showcase. In a camp setting if you play with constant energy and have the athleticism that Cole has you are going to stand out. He was a monster on the glass. Quick second jump and explosion off the floor as he snatches boards off the rim. Length plays very well on the defensive end of the floor as he is a major shot blocking presence. Runs the floor tremendously well and finishes above the rim for slams. The most impressive development in his game we saw was some pick and pop skill. He drilled a couple threes back to back at one point. The form is a little off, but with some tweaking he could be a good shooter. Significant upside especially if he continues to grow! D1’s should start monitoring him early in the process.
Cole chatted with us about his experience at the camp.
“I really like how they have us getting up and down and showing what we can do. We have really good coaches out here. They are giving me some tips on how to improve my shot. The coaches care and are improving everyone.”
How was his sophomore season at Streamwood?
“It didn’t go as we planned, but we have a lot of good things coming up in the future with me and another sophomore and some juniors. We are a young team that can do some work next season.”
From an individual standpoint Cole made a big impact!
“I led my team in points, blocks, and rebounds. I averaged 14.5 points per game.”
For those that haven’t seen him play he told us what he feels he brings to the table.
“I am bouncy. I can get dunks. I run the floor pretty good. I can shoot and get blocks and rebounds.”
Epic Hoopz will be the team he is running with on the grassroots circuit.
“I am looking to get a lot of wins and college exposure.”
