Prospect Spotlight: Devon House (2020)
Sterling Newman 2020 post Devon House is a new name to add to the radar! The 6’6” center has a wide body that he moves well. Quality mobility for his size. Nimble footwork around the hoop. Shows nice skill with his ability to score on the block with a soft touch and a nice hook shot. Understands at a young age how to create space and get deep post position. Shows a feel for playing the post. Not much of a vertical athlete yet, but knows how to play on the block. Area rebounder that can gobble them up. Positional defender that plays big and makes it tough for opponents to score over him. House is a player we look forward to see how he develops in 2020 class.
House spoke about his freshman season.
“My first year of high school went well. I had a really good team. I did pretty decent for my freshman year. I played varsity and averaged about 6 points per game and 6 rebounds.”
What are the biggest assets of his game early on?
“I would say I have really good footwork down low. I have a good shot from the outside. I haven’t been shooting it that well lately.”
He is playing with Quad City Elite on the 15U circuit this spring where he is teaming up with several other projectable post players.
“I am hoping to get first place in some tournaments and do really good so I can get looked at my colleges.”
This is definitely a name to track down the line especially if he grows a couple more inches.
