Prospect Spotlight: Christian Knox (2019)
Ann Arbor Skyline point guard Christian Knox is on the verge of breaking out and becoming a hot commodity among area college coaches this spring and summer.
The 5-foot-10 2019 says he strikes a balance between scorer and distributor for the Eagles, and enjoyed a successful season because of it.
“I like to really shoot the ball, I’m good at coming off screens and shooting the ball. And I like to get my teammates involved. I really pass the ball and I really like to set my teammates up,” he said.
“My sophomore year went well. I started this year and came into a bigger a role. I was the shooter on the team this year and made defensive stops when we needed them. I feel like I played the best I could this season, and going into next year we have a bright future.”
Michigan’s 25th-ranked 2019, Knox will play his 16U summer on the Under Armour circuit with 1Nation Elite.
“Playing on the circuit is definitely going to help me improve a lot faster, because you’re going around the nation playing the best 2019s in every other state. We have a really good team, and once we have our chemistry down we’ll be a really good team on the circuit,” he said.
“The biggest thing I’m trying to do is gain more weight, so I can get to the rack better. I did go to the rack pretty well this year, but being a smaller guard, if I can add some weight that will help me get to the rack even better.”
With the April live periods just around the corner, Knox is hoping to turn some heads. He’s hoping for some Division I interest by summer’s end.
“I’m not quite sure about who’s looking at me and who’s not because they can’t contact me yet. But I’m just focused on getting better, and then when they call I can focus on who’s in the mix and who likes me the most and stuff like that,” said Knox. “But I definitely hope to catch the attention of Division I schools this summer.”
