Prep Hoops had the opportunity to touch base with former Clemson/NBA player
Sharone Wright Sr. on his son Sharone “June” Wright Jr and teammate Travion McCray.
Wright Jr and McCray both members of the 2018 class will transfer out of
West Florence HS after the school year according to Wright Sr.
The duo will transfer together to a new school next year. Montverde Academy, Word of God,
Legacy Charter and others are be considered for next season according to Wright Sr.
“June and Travion both wanted to thank coach Pete Ellis, Trey Woodberry and the whole West
Florence staff for everything they did for them. The thanks don’t stop
there both June and Travion would like to thank the Karolina Khaos AAU organization and the
Favor of God International Worship Center” said Wright Sr.
Sharone Wright Jr.
Wright Jr. has received offers from Memphis, Wake Forest, South Carolina, Clemson, Kansas State,
Auburn, Georgia Tech, Central Florida, Texas Tech, North Carolina State, Charlotte and Georgia
according to Wright Sr. Wright Jr. averaged 16.3 ppg, 6.6 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 2.7 steals this season.
Wright Jr. scored 24 points in his game for the Knights in a loss to Irmo HS. Wright Jr. shot 55% (143-261)
from the floor this season. Wright Jr. finished his 3 year career at West Florence HS with 841 points.
Wright Jr is ranked #2 in the 2018 Class in the Palmetto State behind Zion Williamson. “I want to thank the
West Florence staff and supporters for a wonderful 3 years. I will always be a Knight and I appreciate all that
you’ve done” said Wright Jr.
Travion McCray
McCray played just one season for the Knights after transferring in from nearby Timmonsville HS.
McCray a point guard averaged 12.1 ppg, 6.7 rebounds, 5.2 assists and 2 steals this season.
Troy, Stetson, Charlotte, South Carolina State, Maryland Eastern Shore, Temple and Clemson have
all shown in interest in McCray this season according to Wright Sr. McCray is ranked #14 in the
2018 Prep Hoops Palmetto State Class. “I want to thank my family and both Timmonsville and
West Florence High School. God has blessed me with a great opportunity to grow” said McCray.
