Intro: Trey Jenkins (2019)
We are big fans of what Sikeston 6’7” 2019 power forward Trey Jenkins brings to the table. Jenkins is a projectable four man that has a lot of tools to like. He is a floor spacing four man that has the ability to knock down pick and pop threes with ease. Smooth and effortless perimeter stroke. Also is an outstanding offensive rebounder with a quick second jump. Gets multiple offensive rebound put backs a game. High points rebounds in traffic. Runs the floor with ease. Defensively he will need to continue to add strength which he has the frame to do to hold up against posts at the next level. The plus athlete is a shot blocking presence that can swat them with a quick twitched bounce off the floor. Mid-major prospect.
Jenkins chatted with PrepHoopsMissouri about his sophomore campaign at Sikeston.
“It went good. We made it to quarterfinals where we lost to Vashon. Overall it went pretty good. I did well, but I can do better. I have to work on me running the floor more.”
What are the strengths in his game at this stage?
“My mid-range is pretty good. My inside is alright, but could be better.”
His ability to get on the offensive glass is a major plus that will translate well to the next level.
“We all need to get on the offensive glass. That helps you win games.”
Jenkins plays with Ramey-Jets United 16U where he should open a lot of eyes this spring/summer on the grassroots circuit. Currently isn’t hearing from any D1 programs, but we see that changing very soon!
