Intro: Isiah Burd (2019)
How many quality point guard does Bolingbrook head coach Robert Brost need? He has another one coming up in sophomore 6’2” point guard Isiah Burd. He jumps off the floor with his ability at the lead guard spot. Rangy guard with long arms and projectability. Will need to add strength in the future, but has the frame to do it. Great ball handler in transition weaving through defenders. Burd wins in one on one situations off the bounce in the half court. Rotation and form on shot are solid. Works well around ball screens.
Burd spoke about this past season.
“I played mostly on the sophomore team. At the end of the season I got moved up to varsity practice, but I didn’t get in for the playoffs because it was too deep of a bench. Our sophomore team was pretty good. We had a lot to work on. We had to learn how to play with each other more.”
How does going up against point guards like Kaleb Thornton and Joseph Yesufu in practice help prepare him long term?
“It helps me a lot. They push me to be the best player that I can be. They teach me like I always have to prove something to somebody.”
Burd chatted with us about his game.
“I am a good player. My strengths are ball handling and taking it to the rack.”
