Grassroots Weekend Recap
It was a productive weekend for many of the grassroots programs around the state. Here is a look at what they during last weekend action’s in what was the first April open evaluation period.
Nike EYBL
*MoKan Elite 17U went 4-0 during the first session of play at the Nike EYBL in Hampton, VA. One of those wins was a 59-55 victory over Brad Beal Elite on Saturday morning. Five-star 6’10” forward Jontay Porter had 15 points and 15 rebounds in the that victory. For the weekend, Porter averaged 19 points and 12 rebounds as he showed dominance on both ends of the court. Cooper Kaifes averaged 12.8 points while 2018 guard Israel Barnes averaged 9.5 points and 5.5 rebounds a game.
*Brad Beal Elite 17 finished the weekend with a 3-1 record in Hampton. Five-star guard Darius Garland (Nashville, TN) averaged 13.8 points to lead the Eagles. 6’10” 2019 forward James Wiseman (Nashville, TN) averaged 11.2 points and 8.8 rebounds. 2018 forwards Jericole Hellems and Karrington Davis of Chaminade both averaged eight points a game while 6’3″ 2018 guard Fred Thatch of Sikeston averaged 6.2 points.
Adidas Gauntlet
*The Ramey-Jets United 17U finished 3-1 at the first session in Ft. Worth, TX. 2018 guard Torrence Watson (Whitfield) averaged 14.5 points and four rebounds to lead the team, which was without 2018 Louisville commit Courtney Ramey, who was injured during the weekend. 2018 forward Jerome Reed (Paducah, KY) averaged 12 points and four rebound a game. 6’6″ 2018 forward Yahuza Rasas (St.Mary’s) averaged seven points and a team-high 5.8 rebounds a game while 5’11” 2018 guard Deandre Campbell (Parkway Central) averaged eight points a game. 6’8″ 2018 forward Gaven Pinkley (Hillsboro) averaged 6.8 points and four rebounds a game. The Ramey-Jets 16U team finished 1-3 at the Gauntlet in Texas
*The Gateway Basketball Club 17U finished 1-3 for the weekend. They were led by 6’0″ 2018 guard Jordan Holmes (Columbia, IL) who averaged 14.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.8 assists. 6’6″ 2018 forward Jamarr Williams (Northwest Academy) averaged 7.5 points and a team high 4.8 rebounds a game while 6’3″ 2018 guard Darius Beane (Carbondale, IL) averaged 7.5 points and 2.5 rebounds. The Gateway 16U team finished 2-2 over the weekend while the 15U team was 4-1 in Texas.
*Team Rush 17U finished 4-1 and advanced to the championship game of the Silver Division at the Gauntlet. The 16U team also had a productive weekend with a 4-1 record as well.
Under Armour
KC Run GMC 17U finished with a 1-3 record at the first session of the Under Armour Association league in New York. Guard Noah Thomas averaged 17 points a game while forward Joseph Pleasant (Blue Valley NW) and Damien Daniels (Hogan Prep) averaged 11 and eight points, respectively. The talented Run GMC 16U team finished with a 4-0 record over the weekend. 2019 guard Zach Harvey (Topeka, KS) averaged nearly 18 points a game. 6’8″ 2019 forward Jeremiah Robinson-Earl averaged 12 points a game while 2019 point guard Lamel Robinson (Park Hill South) averaged six points a game.
NY2LA
*Yanders Law 17U finished 4-0 at the Lone Star Invitational in Mansfield, TX. The 16U team finished with a 3-1 record while the 15Us were 2-2 in Texas last weekend.

*MoKan Elite 16U won the 17U championship at the Midwest Live Tournament in Des Moines, IA
*KC Spurs Black 16U finished 4-1 and in second place at the Midwest Live in Des Moines, IA.
*SEMO Storm 17U finished 4-1 and in fifth place at the Adidas Prospect Series in Dallas, TX
*Mo Team Carroll 17U finished 4-1 and won the consolation bracket championship at the Adidas Prospect Series in Dallas, TX
*Mo Team Carroll 15U finished 4-1 and advanced to the Elite Eight at the Adidas Prospect Series in Dallas, TX
*The KC Pacers Blue 17U finished 1-2 at the first session at the Powerade Platform in Washington, D.C. The 16U team finished 2-2 at the Powerade Platform.The 17U White won the consolation championship at the Great American Shootout in Wichita, KS. The 15U team finished 3-1 at advanced to the Final Four at the Great American Shootout.
*St. Louis Shooting Stars-Griffin 17U finished 4-1 and advanced to the Final Four at the Nike Spring Showcase in Romeoville, IL
*The Ramey-Jets 15U team advanced to the Final Four at the Nike Spring Showcase in Romeoville, IL
*Arsenal Hoops 16U finished a perfect 4-0 at the first session of the And 1 DTG Circuit in Chicago. The 15U finished 4-1 and in second place in the Gold Division in Chicago.
