Grassroots : Phenoms Challenge Live – Spartanburg, SC
Prep Hoops was at the Phenom Challenge Live this weekend. Prep Hoops was able to take in some Palmetto State teams on the opening night. Some players that stood out while we were in attedance.
Yohannes Utsey (2018) – Orangeburg-Wilkinson HS – Orangeburg XPRESS
Utsey is a 6’5 post player that thrives on contact in the post. Utsey plays with a bit of a mean streak. Utsey rebounds well on both sides of the floor and gets position in the post. Utsey was a All-Region Performer for the Bruins this season.
Robert Swanson (2018) – Myrtle Beach HS – Manzer 17 Black
Swanson 5’10 is a pure point guard that’s the catalyst to get the Manzer offense going. Swanson is a great table setter that finds the open man and has the ability to turn the corner and find the open man with a bounce pass. Swanson is a high percentage shooter from the foul line.
Robert Guyton (2018) – Christian Academy of Myrtle Beach – Manzer 17 Black
Guyton 5’11 is a great glue guy to a team. Guyton the older of the two on this team, plays with A great toughness. Guyton has the ability to hit open shots or dive for loose balls when given the chance.
Davis Guyton (2019) – Christian Academy of Myrtle Beach – Manzer 17 Black
Guyton stands 6’5 and plays strictly on the perimeter. Guyton shows a great set of hands and soft touch from behind the arc. Guyton was part of the Saints who lost in the SCISA Class 2A title game to Spartanburg Day Academy.
Marlow Gilmore (2019) – Hunter-Kinard-Tyler (Neese) – Columbia Hoyas 16(photo on top)
