Grassroots: Phenom Challenge Live Day 2
Prep Hoops was at the Phenom Challenge Live this weekend. Prep Hoops was able to take in some Palmetto State teams on Saturday. Some players that stood out while we were in attendance.
Andrew Tate (2017) Spartanburg HS Upward Stars Upstate-Blue 17u
Tate 6’6 unsigned senior post player is very active on both ends of the floor. Tate stays in the paint and has the ability to alter shots. Tate has received NCAA D2 interest.
Maliek Wilcox (2018) South Pointe HS – Upward Stars York County 17u
Wilcox 6’0 point guard has a amazing basketball IQ and is a great floor general on the floor. Wilcox can shoot the three and has a nice mid-range game. Wilcox hit the game-winning shot against EA Prep-Douglas; he also scored 15 points in the game.
Jaron Williams (2018) York Prep- Upward Stars York County 17u
Williams 6’5 Williams is long and very aggressive on offensive end. Williams uses his quickness and size to his advantage. Williams will drive to hole and pop out for mid-range shot. Williams had 12 points in the win.
Uzziah Dawkins (2018) Spartanburg HS – Upward Stars Upstate-Blue 17u
Dawkins 6’2 controls the offense for the Upward Stars. Dawkins plays with a great motor.
Christian Kincaid (2018) Spartanburg Christian- Upward Stars Upstate –Blue 17u
Kincaid 6’4 combo guard will look to pass first and then will pop the three from the corner. Kincaid plays with a high Basketball IQ.
Aaron Nesmith (2018) Porter Gaud- TMP 17u
Nesmith 6’6 wing for TMP. Nesmith has received plenty of attention this spring. Yale, Clemson, Maryland and Charlotte all have reached out to him recently. Nesmith has over a 7’0 wingspan and is ranked #3 in the Prep Hoops SC Junior Class.
Shaq Davis (2018) Summerville HS -TMP 17u
Davis 6’7 is ultra athletic around the rim. Davis has great leaping ability and will look to dunk everything. Davis scored 10 points in the game.
Josiah James (2019) Porter Gaud TMP 17u
James 6’6 left-handed point guard for TMP. James has a great skill level that sets himself apart from other players. James is a crafty passer that sees the floor so well. James is ranked #2 in the Prep Hoops 2019 South Carolina Class.
Collin Fowler (2019) Riverside- SC Sonics Elite 16u
Fowler 6’3 controls the offense and defense on the floor. Fowler will pull up from three point range.
Adonis Davis (2021) Blackville-Hilda HS – Central Carolina Force (pictured on front)
Davis 6’1 left-handed guard has started as a 8th grader at Blackville-Hilda HS. Davis has good range on his shot and has the ability to attack the rack.
Jasean Morris (2021) Hand Middle (Columbia) – Team United SC 14
Morris 6’4 post player is a glass eater and he will bang inside. Morris uses his body and length to get the inside shot.
