Grassroots : Big Shots – Day 1
Prep Hoops South Carolina took in both days of action at the Big Shots – Myrtle Beach
Event this past weekend. The event was played at the Myrtle Beach Sports Center which
has 8 courts. Here is some players we saw play on the opening day of action.
Justin Busby
Jalen Cameron and Justin Busby both unsigned seniors were playing with Big Shots Elite
Orange. Cameron 6’5 recently has received interest from Campbell and Murray State according to
West Florence Head Coach Pete Ellis. Cameron is ranked #16 in the Prep Hoops Top 125.
Busby a undersized shooting guard has received interest from Newberry, UNC-Pembroke,
Lincoln Memorial (TN) and Valdosta State (GA) according to Big Shots Elite Orange
Head Coach Marion Busby.
Samuel Woods
Samuel Woods (2018) Christian Academy of Myrtle Beach – Big Shots Elite Orange
Woods 6’7 left-handed forward really can run the floor well. Woods has slightly grown a bit in the past
year and has improved his game with some more confidence. Woods has the ability to step-out and
knockdown the 15-17 footer.
Darius Boatwright
Darius Boatwright (2019) – Dillon – Big Shots Elite 16U
Boatwright 6’6 has a great skill level with his ability to handle the ball in transition and make
jump shots. Boatwright really defends the passing lanes well and rebounds on both ends of the
floor.
Dal’mont Gourdine
Dal’mont Gourdine (2019) Garrett Academy – Charleston Playmakers
Gourdine is a load in the paint and has the ability to back you down in the low post. Gourdine 6’5
started playing varsity ball in the 8th grade at North Charleston HS before heading over to Garrett
Academy. Gourdine loves to draw contact with his barrel chest.
Javon Anderson (2019) Ridge View – Carolina Pressure
Anderson had a hot hand all weekend for the Carolina Pressure. Anderson a shooting guard led the
Carolina Pressure to a 4-0 record and a 16 year old bracket championship. Anderson has the ability
to hit shots from all 3 levels. Anderson went on to win the MVP for his efforts this weekend.
Shaquille Johnson
Shaquille Johnson (2018) – Green Sea Floyds HS – Ascend Ballers
Johnson is a relatively a unknown player in the Palmetto State. Johnson transferred in from
West Bladen HS (NC) and sat out this season at Green Sea Floyds. Johnson has been
running AAU with the Ascend Ballers the past few years. Johnson 6’3 is a wide receiver / defensive back
on the football field. Johnson likes to stalk the baseline and is very athletic.
Emorie Knox
Emorie Knox (2020) – Myrtle Beach HS – Myrtle Beach Phenoms
Knox was great weekend for the Phenoms. Knox plays so much older than his age. Knox has grown a
bit and sees the floor so well. Knox has started to develop a jump shot and a very effective one to say the least.
Knox has played on the Seahawks varsity since his 8th grade season.
