Capital Hoop Fest Scouting: 2020 Part 1
WASHINGTON, DC — The Elevate Hoops Capital Hoop Fest showcased some of the best teams from the greater Baltimore/Washington D.C. region at Catholic University on last weekend for a weekend of competition and exposure. It is time for our detailed scouting report on the event. Here is part one of our 2020 scouting report!
G RAHIM ALI | TEAM MELO
Rahim Ali is a long & lanky lead guard who loves to defend and is effective at pushing the ball up the court in transition. Ali is very skilled, quick, and crafty around the basket.
G EBBY ASAMOAH | TEAM FLIGHT GREEN
Ebby Asamoah is a broad-shouldered 6’3 wing with good length and a high motor. Asamoah is also a strong competitor who can defend a number of positions.
G ADRIAN BALDWIN | TEAM THRILL 16U
Adrian Baldwin played up with 16U Team Thrill, and ran the show efficiently as they made it into the championship game. The skilled lead guard is strong, quick, and super crafty. Baldwin is a good paint getter who can finish well with both hands and facilitate.
F CAM BYERS | TEAM THRILL
Cam Byers is a sturdily built and skilled forward with an intriguing blend of size and skill. Byers can score with his back to the basket at 6’5”, but also enjoys facing up and attacking defenders off the bounce.
F CALEB DORSEY | MID-ATLANTIC SELECT 17U
Caleb Dorsey was the only freshman we saw on a 17U roster this weekend, and it didn’t take long to see why. The 6’7 wing moves well for his size, has good hands, and works extremely hard on the boards. Dorsey also displays commendable poise, a high basketball IQ, and a nice touch from the perimeter.
G JUSTICE ELLISON | DC BLUE DEVILS
Justice Ellison is a quick and crafty playmaker who can get to almost any spot on the floor at will. Ellison has worked hard to improve his shot, and we saw this throughout the weekend.
G CHE EVANS | TEAM MELO
Che Evans got off to a great start in this tournament. The 6’6 guard dunked on an opponent right off the opening tip, and didn’t slow down at all after that. Evans showed why he’s considered a national level recruit in 2020, and should only continue to get better.
