Baltimore: First Team All-Metro
Following the announcement of the first Baltimore Player of the Year for PrepHoops, we will now release the first, second, and third team all-metro selections for Baltimore and surrounding areas.
Darryl Morsell | Mt. St. Joseph | 2017 (Maryland commit)
-Morsell ended his impressive high school career by leading the Gaels (26-3) to the MIAA A Conference and BCL crowns. The future Terp averaged 15 points, eight rebounds, and five assists for head coach Pat Clatchey this season. He was named the BCL tournament’s Most Valuable Player. Recorded a triple-double in a win over Saint Maria Goretti with 20 points, 13 rebounds, and 10 assists.
Jalen Smith | Mt. St. Joseph | 2018
Teammate of Morsell, Smith was the other piece of the dynamic duo for the Gaels this season. The 6-9 forward averaged 17 points, nine rebounds, and three blocks per game. Smith’s tremendous season was acknowledged by winning Maryland’s Gatorade Player of the Year, BCL Player of the Year, and BCL Defensive Player of the Year. He currently holds offers from Maryland, Florida, Villanova, Providence, Marquette, Syracuse, USC, Virginia, and Miami.
Marvin Price | Patterson | 2019
Price led the Clippers from Patterson High School to a 26-3 overall record, the 2A state title, and the Baltimore City championship. The 6-5 sophomore averaged 23.2 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game. He currently holds offers from Virginia Tech and Kansas State. Look for Price to be the topic of conversation for the next two seasons not only in Maryland, but nationally as well.
Laquill Hardnett | Perry Hall | 2018
Hardnett was key in helping the Perry Hall Gators to a 26-2 overall record and win their first 4A state championship in school history. The 6-9 point forward averaged a double-double of 12.9 points and 10.2 rebounds per game this season for the Gators. His versatility caused mismatches in almost every game and his connection with fellow teammate Anthony Higgs caused opponents nightmares. Hardnett currently holds offers from East Carolina, Towson, and Radford.
Terry Nolan Jr. | Mt. Carmel | 2017 (Tennessee Chattanooga commit)
Nolan Jr. helped lead the Mt. Carmel Cougars to a 29-11 overall record and appearances in the MIAA A Conference and BCL title games. The 6-3 combo guard averaged 17 points, six rebounds, and five assists this season and posted a season-high 30 points against Calvert Hall. His versatility and ability to score from all three levels on the floor will translate well at the next level.
