The Hardwood Classic got underway across the state Wednesday with loser-out games in Tacoma, Yakima and Spokane. Here are eight standouts from day one of the 4A tournament at the Tacoma Dome:
Kaden Anderson – Enumclaw
The 6-foot-7 junior posted a double-double with 23 points and 10 rebounds to help his Hornets hold off Inglemoor in a 4A loser-out state game. Anderson added two blocks and a pair of assists to his stat sheet. Anderson will need another big offensive game on Thursday when Enumclaw takes on No. 2 Gonzaga Prep, which allows a 4A-best 45.6 points per game this season.
Rayvaughn Bolton – Kentwood
Bolton, a 6-foot-2 senior, led all scorers with 20 points in Kentwood’s 73-65 battle with Bellarmine Prep. The guard also dished out five assists for the Conquerors, who finished second last year at the 4A state tournament. Kentwood faces Curtis Thursday in the quarterfinals.
Tyler Kurtz – Richland
Kurtz was very effective from the field, shooting 75 percent from the floor and netting 14 points while leading his team to a 63-51 victory over Davis. Kurtz, a as 6-foot-6 senior forward, also led his team with seven rebounds in the contest. The Bombers will face two-time defending 4A state champion Federal Way in the quarterfinals Thursday.
Emilio Mancol – Kennedy Catholic
Mancol, a 5-foot-9 point guard, showed he could do more than just pass the ball off to his teammates. The senior established himself as a scoring threat early and finished with a game-high 16 points to lead the Lancers past Glacier Peak in a loser-out game at the 4A state tournament. Next up for Mancol and Kennedy Catholic is a showdown with top-ranked Union on Thursday.
Cole Northrop – Richland
Like Kurtz, Northrop shined on the offensive end and when it came to grabbing boards. The 6-foot-3 guard netted 12 points and grabbed seven rebounds, while also finishing with nine assists and a steal. The sophomore and his Bombers squad will take on Federal Way Thursday.
Joey Bodoia – Bellarmine Prep
Bodoia had a well-rounded game for the Lions in their season-ending loss to Kentwood. The 6-foot-4 senior forward had a team-high 18 points, grabbed seven rebounds, had five assists, three steals and added a pair of blocks while helping Bellarmine Prep keep pace with the Conquerors.
Alexzander Delgado – Davis

Christian Moore – Bellarmine Prep
Moore, a 6-foot-6 senior forward for the Lions, scored 10 points and grabbed 12 rebounds – six of which came on the offensive end – in a hard-fought performance against Kentwood. Moore and Bellarmine Prep’s season ended with the loss, with the Lions finishing 17-10.
