Trey Brown, 6’1, 2017, Shawnee Heights
He continued his strong play on Saturday, leading the way with 21 points, five 3-pointers and seven rebounds to help Shawnee Heights capture the 5A state championships. A Missouri Western signee Brown is a terrific led point guard with good leadership qualities, can stroke the 3 and has a nice mid range game off the bounce.
Malik Cushon, 6’6, 2017, KC Schlage
One day after scoring 20 points and hauling in 16 rebounds, Cushon followed by eight points and leading Schlagle with 10 rebounds in the championship. He is ann athletic, rangy 6’6 forward who is known for his shot blocking and presence around the rim.
Devin Davis, 6’1, 2018, Wichita Heights
Continued to torch the nets on Saturday, connecting on four 3-pointers and finishing with 16 points to lead Wichita Heights in a loss to Eisenhower in the third-place game. He was easily among the top shooters over the weekend at Topeka.
Poncho Freeman, 6’4, 2017, Shawnee Heights
Freeman went for 11 points and seven rebounds and was 5 for 7 from the field, turning in an efficient performance for Heights. The Thunderbird shooters and guards were lighting up the scoreboard but it was Freeman who helped clog up the paint at both ends of the floor for the Thunderbirds.
Tanner King, 6’3, 2018, Eisenhower
Kid really had a day. Known for his defense, hustle and hard work, King went for 20 points and showcased his all-around game, hauling in five rebounds and handing out four assists. Wichita Heights had a hard time containing King in the paint as he freed himself up for several easy buckets.
Ronnell Mitchell, 5’10, 2019, Schlagle
He did all he could to keep Scglagle in the game on Saturday against Shawnee Heights, scoring 15 points, including a pair of 3s. He is a smaller point guard who has the ability to get in the lane and create and is a good passer.
Jesse Moss, 6’3, 2017, Shawnee Heights
Kid can really shoot it from long distance, has good size and is a good passer and all-around player. He was 3 for 5 from 3 on Saturday and finished with 12 points. Moss has signed to platy next year at Fort Scott Community College.
Matt Pile, 6’8, 2017, Eisenhower
Easily the best individual player at the 5A state championships this week in Topeka, Pile followed a triple double performance in a loss on Friday with a 20-point, 16-rebound performance on Saturday. Pile is a strong, physical player who is known for his powerful dunks in the paint. He has signed to play at Nebraska-Omaha.
