Stockrisers Class 5 State Tournament Day 2
Trey Brown, 6’1, 2017, Shawnee Heights
His play has helped spark Heights to a run all the way to the state championship game today, helping his squad beat St. Thomas Aquinas on Thursday and Eisenhower in the semifinals on Friday. A Missouri Western signee Brown is a terrific led point guard whose game just goes on you the more you see him play. He has terrific leadership qualities, can stroke the 3 and has a nice mid range game off the bounce.
Malik Cushon, 6’6, 2017, Schlage
An athletic, rangy 6’6 forward, Cushon is known for his shot blocking and presence around the rim, but in the semifinals he put 20 points on the board and hauled in 17 rebounds — an impressive performance against Wichita Heights as the Falcons rallied for a 50-39 win and a trip to the championship.
Devin Davis, 6’1, 2017, Wichita Heights
Kid can really shoot it … has some size and athleticism and can really get it going from behind the 3-point arc. He made five 3s and finished with 19 points in a loss on Friday in the semifinals to Schlagle.
Matt Pile, 6’8, 2017, Eisenhower
For those who have been paying attention, it would be hard to consider a Pile a stock riser as his stock is already pretty high. But the 6’8 forward showed he is a steal for Nebraska Omaha a program that has seemingly reached into the Kansas-Missouri pipeline in recent years. Pile had a monster game in a semifinal loss to Shawnee Heights, recording a triple double with 16 points, 15 rebounds and 10 blocked shots. He is a powerful player at both ends of the floor, a tremendous shot blocker and the physicalness to be a terrific post player at the next level.
