Class 2A
Burke 56 Keenan 53
Anthony Hill scored a game-high 17 points to lead the Burke to the Class 2A state championship. The Bulldogs was close to being down by double-digits late in the third quarter when Sidney Robinson and the team decided to make a comeback. Robinson scored all his eights in the final quarter to help the Bulldogs. Burke opened the fourth quarter with a 9-2 run to take a 45-41 lead with 5:17 left in the game. Keenan’s Tariq Simmons basket with 1:04 left was the last time the game was tied at 51-51. Algernard Young made four late free-throws to give Burke the 56-53 win. Keenan’s Tarig Simons scored a game-high 30 points in the loss. The Raiders finished the season at 22-6. Burke finished the season at 22-4.
Class 3A
Southside 65 Dillon 57
Jalen McKelvey scored a game-high 19 points to lead Southside to Class 3A state championship. Tuzion Brock also added 15 points for the Tigers. It was Southside first state championship since 2009. Dillon got as close as 27-19 at half. The Wildcats had chance to cut into the Tigers lead in the second quarter. When Tuzon Brock went to the bench after he hurt his shoulder in the middle of the second quarter. Keenan Norman led Dillon with 13 points and Darius Boatwright also added 11 points. Dillon finished the seson at 17-7. Southside complete the season at 27-1.
Class 4A
Lower Richland 51 Wren 42
Clyde Trap, Jr. scored all his game-high 20 points in the second half to lead Lower Richland to Class 4A state championship. Trapp started the game going 0-5 from the field in the first half. Ja’Cor Nelson who left the game with elbow injury scored seven points in the first half to keep the Diamond Hornets close at 26-17. Clyde Trapp, Jr. made two free-throws in the middle of the fourth quarters to give the Lower Richland their first lead 39-37. The Diamond Hornets close the game on a 12-5 run. The Hurricanes lead the game as many 18 points at 25-7 in the middle of the first half. John Kanaan scored a team-high 15 points for Wren. The Hurricanes finished the season at 23-5. Lower Richland ended the season at 21-4.
