Recruiting Report: Nate Hansen (JUCO)
Vincennes JC sophomore Nate Hansen stands at 6’4” which is quality size for the two guard position. He is best as a lights out perimeter shooter. Hansen excels off the catch from three. The sophomore can get scorching hot from behind the arc. Very deep range. Moves well without the ball and relocates to find open room to let his shot fly. The area that has impressed us the most is improved handles. He isn’t going to be a driver at the next level, but has improved enough where he can handle against pressure and bring it up in a pinch. Plays with good pace. Rebounds solid for a guard. Struggles defensively guarding on the ball against athletic wings. Projects as a D2+/LM player.
He spoke about his season.
“It has been a great season for me. It started in the summer for me. I didn’t even go home. I stayed at Vincennes all summer and worked on my shot and game. I really improved as a player from high school to now.”
What areas of his game does he feel he has improved?
“I feel like I have gotten quicker and a lot more athletic. My defense has gotten better, but it is still not where I want it to be. Shooting is just confidence for me. If I have the confidence I am going to shoot the ball in.”
We saw growth in his ball handling as well.
“Coach Franklin really wanted me to be more of a leader as a sophomore. For a leading role I wanted to be more of a ball handler. Be more of a two guard this year. I think the work I put in has really paid off.”
He described what he likes to do on the floor.
“I am playing hard 24/7. If I am on the court I am playing hard. I am shooting shots and making shots. Hustling. Playing defense. I just want to win.”
Where do things stand with recruiting?
“I have a D1 offer from Texas State. I hold D2 offers from Indiana Springfield and Kentucky Wesleyan.”
Southern Indiana is a school he knows well.
“I have been familiar with USI ever since I was a kid. I am familiar with their coaching staff. I have two friends from high school on the team.”
What will he be looking for in a school?
“A school that I am really comfortable with. A good offense. I will be talking to a lot of coaches and make sure I make the right decision.”
