Recruiting Report: Markel Aune (2018)
Markel Aune has a focus and this is to get Bloomington Kennedy back to being a winner. The 5-foot-9 point guard averaged 18.6 points and 5.6 assists a game.
Aune shot 55 percent from the floor, 69 percent from the foul line, and 41.5 percent from the arc. He also recorded nearly two steals a game. Most importantly he helped Kennedy improve by seven wins.
“The season went better then last year, we won seven games,” Markell told NHR. “We had an upset loss to Simley in sections. The top moment was winning are first game since 2015.”
Markel has always produced numbers. He put up 18.5 points per game as a sophomore, 13 a game as a freshman, and 13.5 points per game as an 8th grader at FAIR. Now he’s scoring, creating, and leading.
“My game grew for me in the mental part and also just being more of a leader has also enhanced and just seeing the floor better, getting my teammates involved and finding other ways to put the ball in the basket.”
Markel grows year by year and he shared his focus for the next phase with NHR.
“The thing mostly I have to do to improve on for next season is consistency, and building on my defense to get stronger,” Aune said.
Aune also had a nice 16U year with Powerhouse Minnesota. Over that time (AAU and high school) some schools have been in contact.
“My high school coaches got me some colleges like Hawaii, California Bakersfield, Winona State, Princeton, and Kings College in New York,” Markel said.
