Recruiting Report: Jalen Hodge (2018)
O’Fallon 2018 point guard Jalen Hodge is a lefty lead guard that impressed us over the summer with the Southwest Jets. He is quick and shifty with the ball in his hands. The junior is at his best in the transition game where he pushes it and weaves in and out of the defense. At times he can play a bit too fast which leads to mistakes. Works well in the pick and roll making sound decisions with the ball. Hodge is a streaky shooter from three. Much better pulling up from mid-range and scores getting to the hoop with slick drives. Sound passer especially in the open floor. Potential D2 prospect with the chance to elevate with a good spring.
Hodge spoke about his season.
“I think we have improved since last year. A lot of people counted us out. We surprised a lot of teams in the conference that we could play with them. We had a couple good wins. Overall I think we surprised a lot of people.”
Where has he seen improvements in his game?
“I feel like my shooting has improved and have become one of the top shooters in the conference. My scoring has gotten way better. I am more of a pass first point guard, but now going into AAU this summer I can be both a scorer and a passer.”
The junior spoke about his strengths as a prospect.
“I feel like I am a great passer. Thrive in the pick and roll. My shooting is underrated.”
He updated us on his recruitment.
“I have heard from Princeton, Lehigh, and North Dakota State.”
