Recruiting Report: Goodnews Kpegeol (2018)
Goodnews Kpegeol has the potential as a 6-foot-5/6-foot-6 skilled and agile guard that few can match. He’s producing too.
The potential side is the fact that Goodnews has played point guard and wing for much of his life but is also 6-foot-5 or 6-foot-6 with great length and explosive bounce. That combination is very rare and it has college coaches salivating.
The production side is pretty good too. Goodnews paired with several good seniors to lead North St. Paul to state a year ago as the team’s leading playmaker.
This season Goodnews has his team at 17-9 which is a bit better than most expected considering all the seniors that graduated from North St. Paul a year ago.
“The season has been good,” Goodnews said. “There are a couple games I wish I could get back and play again but for the most part it has been good.”
Kpegeol’s game continues to grow which is even scarier. He’s a junior averaging nearly 21 points a game leading his team in many categories.
“My game has grown in ways, like I’ve gotten stronger, I’m a better shooter, better ball handling, and I can also post up when I want,” Kpegeol said.
Tonight the Polars face the CDH Raiders in round one of section play.
“We expect to make it back to state, we just have to put all the pieces together,” Goodnews said.
Kpegeol will be one of the state’s most watched D1 prospects this spring and summer playing with Howard Pulley. What schools will be looking on? Here is a sample.
“I’m hearing from Wisconsin-Green Bay, University of South Dakota, Nebraska-Omaha, North Dakota State, University of North Dakota, University of Denver, UW-Milwaukee, of U Of Furman, and Northern Iowa,” Goodnews said.
