Recruiting Report: Matt Todd (2018)
A year ago Matt Todd took his team to the final four of Class AAA. As a junior he’s scoring 25.7 points per game for a Monticello team that has won seven of their last ten.
“We had a rough start to the season but we have been playing well as of late,” Todd told Prep Hoops.
“We still expect to be playing in the section final game this year even though our record isn’t maybe what some people expected it to be.”
The team is 11-15 but the Magic did go on a 7-1 stretch before losing recent games to Rogers and Big Lake.
Matt is scoring his 25.7 points per game on 46 percent shooting with a number of 36 percent at the arc and 86 percent at the foul line. Matt takes 14-15 shots a game for the Magic (about six fouls shots a game as well) plus leads the team with 5.4 rebounds, 5.2 assists, and 3.4 steals a game.
Matt has become a much more well-rounded player now that he’s an upperclassmen.
“I think my mid range pull up is the most improved part of my game and also I think I’ve improved a lot on the defensive end since last year,” Todd said.
This weekend Matt will visit North Dakota to see the campus and watch the team practice. UND is one of four schools he’s hearing from the most.
“The colleges talking to me the most right now are Nebraska-Omaha, South Dakota, North Dakota and I get mail from Air Force almost every week,” Todd said.
The 6-foot-1 guard recently had a career high of 52 points scored against Buffalo.
Monticello looks like they will be the four seed in 5AAA based on QRD standings today. That would mean a first round game with Becker and a second round game with likely Big Lake.
