Prospect Spotlight: Jordan White (2018)
Jordan White might be one of the most improved players in Virginia over the last twelve months, and arguably the best kept secret in the northern part of the state. The 6-foot-2 shooting guard from Christ Chapel Academy didn’t really get serious about basketball until age 13, but he’s made significant strides as a result of his hard work.
“A lot of people label me as a shooter. I like to label myself as a scorer,” said White about his playing style. “I can score in different ways, but I kind of center my game around my jump shot.”
White shot the lights out this season. He led his team in made threes (93), field goal percentage (47), three point percentage (40), and scoring (17.2). He also converted on 57% of his two-point field goal attempts.
“I think I do the little things more than people give me credit for like rebound,” said White, who led his team in defensive rebounds, and finished top three in steals and assists. “I get on the floor for loose balls and stuff like that. Hustle plays.”
Ball handling is something White says he can work on. Being able to break his defender down to get easier shots, and depend less on his teammates.
“All A’s and B’s right now, no C’s allowed at all.” joked White about his academic status.
White will play for Head Coach Dennis Marshall and Team Takeover this summer on the grassroots circuit. What can coaches expect from White at a college program?
“I think I can bring elite shooting. I’m a team guy. I can play in any system. Run and Gun. Half court. I can bring experience. Winning experience. I can just fit in anywhere I go.”
White is still yet to receive his first offer, but he should be on the radar of Patriot League types. Don’t be surprised to see those types of schools get involved in his recruitment this spring and summer.
