Prospect Profile: CJ Plantin (2020)
The 2020 class in South Carolina is shaping up to be one of the better classes in the last few years. One name that is helping the cause is CJ Plantin, a 6-foot-4 forward from Pendelton High School. The freshman played on varsity last season as an eighth grader and played his way into more of a role as a freshman. He averaged 12.7 points and 11.2 rebounds per game for Pendelton High School that finished the season at 14-6 overall. He was named to the All-Region I-AAA team.
Plantin has great size at 6-foot-4 for a freshman. He can finish with contact, he is really good in the open floor, he has good court vision to find open teammates, he runs the floor and can get buckets in transition. He is really good at drawing the defense and then waiting on the perfect moment to find he open man. He is a smooth scoring lefty that has nice footwork and a soft touch around the basket.
CJ is the only freshman on the varsity Pendelton High School team but plays well beyond his years. He is playing this summer with Team Loaded 704 2020 coached by Anthony Randolph on the Adidas circuit. Plantin, Dorman High School freshman Myles Tate and Gaffney High School freshman Stan “Nuke” Ellis are three that are starting to get their name out in the 2020 class for South Carolina and are ones to track and keep an eye on.
