Central Noble Shocks In Westview Sectional
In one of the more unseen runs of the postseason so far, Central Noble won their Sectional with wins over Whitko, Westview, and LaVille. The 14-12 Central Noble team went into the tournament with an 11-12 record and losses earlier in the year to Whitko and Westview. However, they put on were able to put their heads down and plow through beating their three opponents by a combined 11 points.
Shenandoah Gets Revenge On Howe
Last season, Shenandoah went into Sectionals 20-2 and were one of the best teams in 2A. Then they lost to Indianapolis Howe by double-digits. This year, they were in almost the same spot at 18-4 and this time they were ready. They took down Howe on Saturday, 58-57. They now, look to make their run into the tournament and will cause some issues. They next get Heritage Christian but could then face Northeastern, a team they lost to by two earlier in the year.
Heritage Christian A Surprising Winner
Heading into the Sectional, Broad Ripple was a sleeper pick by a few to get to the State Finals and it looked like a good choice. The one team that might have ruined that was Scecina who can play at a high level at times. However, Heritage Christian was able to sneak past Scecina and help them out. However, Broad Ripple never even made it to the Sectional Championship as they got upset by Speedway. That made Heritage Christian the next team up and they took full advantage. Now, they get a really tough team in Shenandoah. Do they have enough magic left?
Crawford County Beats Top Ranked Providence
Providence came into last week as the best team in 2A and a great record on the season. However, their path setup as difficult in an already tough Sectional. They were able to get past Henryville and Paoli but Crawford County met them on Saturday and didn’t let them advance. Host Crawford County was able to get a 33-32 win and took advantage of a great draw to get into the second weekend of the tournament. Now, they get a solid Forest Park team in the Regional Semifinals but it is likely they will have to take on South Knox who is on a great run themselves.
South Knox Breaks Through, Beating Barr-Reeve
South Knox hasn’t beaten Barr-Reeve in the regular season since 2008-09. They hadn’t beat them at all since then until last year’s Sectional Semifinal game. However, South Knox wasn’t able to get past Linton-Stockton. This year, they got the draw they needed as Barr-Reeve knocked off Linton in the opening round and now would only have to beat one of them. Then, they did just on Saturday night, again, beating them in Sectionals. Now, they are into Regionals for the first time since 2009-10 and they look really good. They will now face South Ripley with either Crawford County or Forest Park waiting.
