Gatorade Player of the Year : Jalek Felton
Jalek Felton career came to a end a few weeks back on a court in Greenville, SC. Felton and his teammates from Gray Collegiate saw there season come to a end to arch rival Keenan HS in the 2A Upper State Championship game.
Felton was recently named Gatorade Player of the Year in the Palmetto State.
Felton a University of North Carolina signee averaged 26.8 ppg, 5.4 assists and 4.8 rebounds this season for the War Eagles.
Felton started his high school career at Mullins HS located over in the Pee Dee Region of the state before heading Gray Collegiate this season. Felton scored over 2,600 career points between the two schools in his high school career.
Felton scored 50 points in his last season regular season game this year versus CA Johnson HS. Felton has been selected to play in the Jordan Brand Classic and the Allen Iverson Roundball Classic next month.
Felton helped the War Eagles to the 2A Upper State Championship in there first year of post-season eligibility.
Felton is the nephew of former University of North Carolina and current Los Angeles Clippers guard Raymond Felton. Felton had a great high school but he never did have a chance to raise that championship trophy at the end of the season.
“Jalek was one of the most talented players I’ve seen since I been in the State of South Carolina the past 13 years. Jalek had the ability to put a team on his back and carry them all night long with his ability to score the ball” said Prep Hoops Bret Swanson.
Felton is the 4th player from the Midlands to win the award in the past 5 years.
