The Freshmen All State Team
Northstar Hoops Report has a lot of post-season recognition coming the next couple weeks starting with our Freshmen All State Team.
All State First Team
Jalen Suggs, Minnehaha Academy. The national known standout led his team to the state championship with 22 points, seven rebounds, and almost six assists a game. At state he did some of everything including some great defensive plays to led his team to the gold.
Ben Carlson, East Ridge. The six-foot-9 forward scored a dozen points a game for the 22 win Raptors and Ben continues to emerge as one of the top young prospects in the state of Minnesota with his skills, agility, and size.
Dain Dainja, Park Center. The Pirates center started in the middle scoring just under nine a game with 7-8 boards and a couple blocks for a 21 win Park Center team that performed even better than expected. Dainja had several double-doubles for Coach Ware.
Kerwin Walton, Breck. Kewin helped lead the Mustangs to the sub-section title and a game away from state. Walton scored 16.3 points per game shooting one of the highest percentages of any freshmen in the state.
Terry Lockett, Minnehaha Academy. The point guard of the state champion Redhawks not only scored a dozen a game but played his best basketball of the season late after missing ten games this winter.
All State Second Team
Lu’Cye Patterson, Brooklyn Center. The Centaurs won 18 games this year led by Patterson who scored 16.8 points per contest plus led the team in assists and was the all around playmaker.
Blaise Beauchamp, Hopkins. For much of the year Blaise was the Royals point guard and one of their top three point threats. Beauchamp scored twelve points a contest for the Royals.
Drake Dobbs, Eden Prairie. Drake scored a dozen a contest playing against one of the top schedules in the state. Drake is also considered one of the top six or seven prospects in the state as well.
Austin Andrews, Eden Prairie. Austin put up 8.6 points per game this year and was a top rebounder for his team. The physical big started for EP and showed a mature post game.
Dawson Garcia, Prior Lake. The mobile skilled Garcia scored just under nine points a contest, grabbed six rebounds a game, and defended well for a young player. Garcia helped Prior Lake to 14 wins.
All State Third Team
Kaden Johnson, Minnehaha Academy. Johnson gave the Redhawks 9-10 points per game, was a top rebounder, and he was one of the teams top defenders in every game.
Nathan Heise, Lake City. Nathan scored 11 points per game making almost half of his threes for a team that made a nice run to state upsetting some teams along the way.
Henry Abraham, Cambridge-Isanti. The freshman guard continues to put up numbers for C-I who won seven games this year while Henry scored 16.7 points per game.
Charles Katona, Shakopee. The Sabers went young this year but it gave the team a chance to play young talent like Charles who had a dozen points and six boards a night.
Tate Machacek, Eastview. The Lightning won 13 games with Tate being a key piece scoring nine points and play a mature game both way
All State Fourth Team.
Daniel Savageau, Osakis. Daniel gave his team 13 points per game this winter and this was for a 19 win club.
Drew Hagen, Moorhead. Led the Spuds in scoring at 13 a contest and is a big reason the team has some excitement for the future after winning just three games.
Wyatt Schroeder, St. Francis. Wyatt was the second leading scorer and a top rebounder for a .500 St. Francis team.
Rudwan Tahir, Brooklyn Center. Tahir was one of the Centaurs most consistently active players plus he scored nearly ten a game.
Decker Scheffler, Springfield. Decker scored 10.5 points per game for his team that went to state and was one of the Class A’s best.
