2020 : Names to watch
Prep Hoops is ready to hit the pavement this spring for the Grassroots AAU Circuit. Prep Hoops will start off the action in the 16th Annual Icebreaker Invitational March 31-April 2. Here is a look at some 2020 kids schools you might want to start monitoring for the future.
Dillon Jones – Keenan
Jones 6’5 forward has been a big part of the Raiders plans for the past 2 seasons. Jones will look to play the AAU circuit with Upward Stars SE 2020 this spring. Jones averaged 9.6 ppg and 6.7 rebounds for the Raiders (22-6) this season.
Jalen Coit – Cheraw
Coit was a one man show for the very young Braves squad this year. Coit led the Pee Dee Region in scoring at 24.3 ppg. Coit just 5’10 can score the ball from 3 point range or use a nice mid-range game.
Emorie Knox
Emorie Knox – Myrtle Beach
Knox has been a big part of the Seahawks plans for the past 2 seasons under Head Coach Craig Martin. Knox averaged 10.2 ppg this year. Knox 5’8 point guard can turn the corner so quick with the ball and plays at a good pace at all times.
CJ Plantin – Pendleton
Plantin averaged a double-double for the Bulldogs this season at 12.7 ppg and 11.2 rebounds. Plantin 6’4 small forward will run with Team Loaded NC 704 this spring.
Myles Tate – Dorman (Roebuck)
Tate helped the Cavaliers to a 5A State Championship this past March. Tate averaged 8.7 ppg and conencted on 38% behind the arc. Tate will join forces with Plantin on Team Loaded NC 704.
Jordan Burch – Wilson (Florence)
Burch is a physical specimen at a young age. Burch 6’5 has the body of a grown man already. Burch saw good minutes for the Wilson Tigers this past season. Burch a left-handed hybrid of sorts can play multiple positions on the floor. Burch played his 8th grade year at nearby South Florence HS.
Omarion Byrd
Omarion Byrd – North Augusta
Byrd stands just 5’9 for the Yellow Jackets. Byrd played a great deal of minutes this season for Tony Harrell’s squad. Byrd averaged 9.5 ppg and 2.2 rebounds. Byrd a undersized off guard shot 41% (68-162) from three point range. Byrd will run AAU with Upward Stars Riverfront (local team)
Maliek Brown – Palmetto Christian Academy (Mount Pleasant)
Brown put up some numbers this season for the SCISA 2A program. Brown averaged 21.9 ppg and 11.2 rebounds for the Eagles. Brown just 6’2 plays a lot bigger than his size.
Isaiah Caldwell – Heathwood Hall
Caldwell is the brother of Josh (Army bound). Caldwell saw good minutes this year for the Highlanders. Caldwell is a rangy guard that will suit up with Coit, Knox and Brown on the Upward Stars SE 2020 team this spring.
Antoine Parker
Antoine Parker – Fort Dorchester (Ladson)
Parker 6’3 averaged 7.4 ppg and 5.5 rebounds this season for the Patriots. Parker a small forward will run AAU with the Charleston Playmakers.
