Brox Ashby took the state by storm during the 4A state tournament. In three games, he averaged over 10 points per game and at times what the best player on the court. Here is our interview with Ashby.
What are some strengths you have in your game that make you the player that you are?
“I’m very fast with the ball and like to score in transition. I’m also a good three point shooter and that is probably my biggest strength.”
What are some of your weaknesses that you would like to work on?
“I would like to make better decisions next year and be able to to take care of the ball. I want to become a better off the dribble shooter to go being a catch and shoot guy”
Who is the toughest player you can recall playing against in Utah High School basketball?
“Trevin Knell from Woods Cross. He is able to shoot from anywhere on the court and can score in multiple ways. As a freshman I didn’t want to guard him and when I did I fouled him most of the time. It was a great experience playing against someone that good as a freshman.”
What is your dream college that you would want to play for and why?
“Duke. It’s one of the best programs in the country and Coach K is the best college. It would be a dream to play on their home court wearing a Duke jersey.”
Wh0 is your favorite NBA player and why?
“Gordan Hayward. He’s the best player the Jazz have had in a long time. He has a great overall game and I love how he can dunk on anyone. He’s become one of the best players in the NBA and I try to copy his game.”
What is your favorite off the court activity and why?
“Hanging out with friends and family. I like to relax when I’m not working on my game.”
