1A State Friday Standouts
PrepHoopsIllinois checked out the action from the 1A state finals in Peoria on Friday. See who were the Friday Standouts here!
SG Adam Levitt (Effingham St. Anthony – 2017)
Levitt only stands at 6’2”, but he is a crafty power wing that does most of his damage on the interior. Got to the free throw line at an extremely high rate against Hope. Most of his work was done in the paint getting offensive rebounds for put backs or and-1’s. Gritty player that plays hard. He is a small college player. Levitt had 16 points and 4 rebounds. Hit 10-15 from the charity stripe which was key in their victory.
SG Jordan Doss (Hope – 2017)
Doss is listed at 6’6”, but looks a little shorter. He is a volume scoring wing that isn’t afraid to let it fly. He has good athleticism and quickness, but is extremely wild with his shot selection and is turnover prone. Best in transition game. He had 8 points. Small college/JUCO player.
SG Noah Frederking (Okawville – 2017 – Evansville)
Frederking is far and away the best college prospect in the 1A field. The 6’4” shooting guard has a thick body, but retains solid athleticism. Everything that he does is extremely crisp. Moves well without the ball to get open. His handles have greatly improved throughout his high school career. This has allowed him to be able to get his shot off at any time against small school competition. He can create his own shot off the bounce including with a sweet one dribble pull up. Plus shooter off the catch. Rebounds well for his position. Being the biggest player on his team he has to board and he does. He had 24 points and 13 rebounds. Should evolve into a solid player for Evansville with his perimeter shooting and toughness.
SG Shane Ganz (Okawville – 2017)
The 6’2” shooting guard for Okawville plays Robin to Frederking’s Batman. What you have to like about Ganz is the motor and energy he brings to the court. Constantly moving on both ends of the floor and has a nose for the basketball. Solid shooter from mid-range that can stretch it to three off the catch. Sneaky speed in transition as he can get to the rim finishing in the open floor. Brought a lot to Okawville in their afternoon semifinal game. The tough senior projects as a small college prospect, but we hear he will play baseball in college. Ganz had 16 points.
SG Will Clausel (Newark – 2017)
At 6’4” Clausel has a wiry frame with range. He is at his best offensively slashing off the bounce. Solid handles. Clausel can post up smaller defenders making quick moves in the paint. Tough kid that competes on the defensive end. Will get an occasional block and has a knack for slipping passing lanes and going the other way in traffic. He finished with 11 points. Quality D3/NAIA prospect that will be a great team player for whatever school that lands him.
SG Dylan Patrick (Newark – 2018)
Patrick is a 6’1” lefty that can shoot it. Smooth looking perimeter shot that he hit from both mid-range and three. Tough kid that also got to the free throw line some. He had 17 points. Small college player that we will watch this spring/summer.
