PrepHoopsIllinois will be checking in weekly to get an update on a different group of prospects in our series Senior Sunday to see where things stand with their recruitments.
PG Teyvion Kirk (Joliet West)
Overall Rank: #12
Position Rank: #3
Projected Level: MM
Kirk is one of the top uncommitted prospects in the state. He decommitted from Drake on Christmas day and since then he has landed five offers from Kent State, SIU, UW Milwaukee, Bethune Cookman, and Miami (OH). Kirk tells us that other schools he is in regular communication with include Murray State, Boston College, Middle Tennessee State, Georgia Tech, Brown, Boise State, and St. Bonaventure.
SG Lucas Williamson (Whitney Young)
Overall Rank: #16
Position Rank: #5
Projected Level: MM-/LM+
Williamson has put himself in the Mr. Basketball race with a strong senior campaign. The senior wing is a versatile shooting guard that contributes across the board and has improved as a scorer. He tells us that the four schools that are actively recruiting him and are most involved are UIC, Northern Illinois, Hofstra, and Indiana State.
PF Collin Stallworth (Rochester)
Overall Rank: #41
Position Rank: #10
Projected Level: LM-/D2+
Stallworth is one of the better power forwards left in the state. Super athletic and rangy post that has good strength and springy legs. He landed an offer from Wisconsin Parkside this past week. Also holds an offer from Illinois Springfield. Drury and Southern Indiana are two schools that are actively showing interest.
SF Alton Thompson (St. Patrick’s)
Overall Rank: #42
Position Rank: #8
Projected Level: LM-/D2+
The athletic wing has made noise with his freak athleticism this season after transferring in from California. He has interest from DePaul, Wyoming, Chicago State, Eastern Illinois, and Valpo. Took a visit to Eastern Illinois January 14. The school showing the most interest right now is Wyoming. DePaul is starting to put more attention on the senior wing. He plans on playing in the spring with the Mac Irvin Fire Select.
PF Cameron Gross (OPRF)
Overall Rank: #54
Position Rank: #12
Projected Level: D2/JUCO
Gross tells us he holds an offer from JUCO Des Moines Area CC. He has been talking to Kennesaw State, Emporia State, Panola, Kirkwood, Triton, and Olney Central. Gross says that Panola and Des Moines Area are standing out the most right now.
PF Dolapo Olayinka (Mather)
Overall Rank: #111
Position Rank: #24
Projected Level: D3/JUCO
Olayinka is an undersized four man that can really maul on the interior against bigger opponents. Plays bigger than his height with a never ending motor and runs the floor well. He says Chicago State and Trinity International are interested. Also considering the JUCO route with Florida Southwestern being involved.
PG Justin Shadowens (Marion)
Overall Rank: #113
Position Rank: #32
Projected Level: D3/JUCO
Shadowens is a southern Illinois sharp shooter. The point guard can really drill shots from the perimeter especially pulling up off the bounce. He says that John A Logan has offered and he is leaning toward the local JUCO power. Lindenwood-Belleville has also shown interest in his services.
PG DeAnte Walker (United Township)
Overall Rank: #115
Position Rank: #34
Projected Level: D3
Walker is a central Illinois point guard who showed well playing a backup role for a loaded Illinois Irish team this past summer. He is visiting North Central this weekend. Augustana, St. Ambrose, and UW Platteville are also involved.
SF Christian Hamil (Evanston)
Overall Rank: #121
Position Rank: #25
Projected Level: D3
This 6’4” small forward has elevated his play as a senior. Improved as a shooter and brings toughness to the table. Hamil holds an offer from NAIA Trinity International. Getting looks from Pittsburgh State, Assumption University, and Elmhurst.
SG Austin Wills (Benton)
Overall Rank: #144
Position Rank: #38
Projected Level: D3
Willis had led his team to a phenomenal run this season as they were 23-1 coming into the week. Athletic and smooth scoring guard. He tells us that Trevecca Nazarene’s head coach was in recently to see him and he will visit on February 18. McKendree is also starting to show more interest in him.
