Christian Academy (Myrtle Beach) 57 Hilton Head Prep 52
Bryce Schneider (2017) scored a team-high 17 points to lead the Saints in the victory. Christian Academy built an early 19-11 lead at the end of the first quarter. Hilton Head Prep chipped at the lead to close the halftime lead to 28-21. The third quarter the Dolphin came out on fire to outscored Christian Academy 16-9 to tie the game at 37-37 heading into the fourth quarter. Schneider and Micheal Green opened the fourth quarter with a 5-0 run to spark the Saints and give them a 42-37 lead.
Green scored 13 points and Justin Busby added 10 points in the victory for the Saints. The Saints move to (20-11) on the season.
Hilton Head Prep was led by Javone Watson (2017) with 21 points and Hadith Stewart added 14 points including four three-pointers for Dolphins. Hilton Head Prep ends the season at 21-5 and the SCISA region 4-2a champions.
Spartanburg Day 72, Trinity-Byrnes (Darlington) 67
Zion Williamson (2018) scored a game-high 36 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to lead the Griffins to the state championship game against Christian Academy (Myrtle Beach) on Saturday.
The first quarter was filled with drama as both Kris Chapman (2017) and Clay Killoren were both hit with a technical foul. CJ Miles and La’sauhn McFadden (2018) each helped Trinity-Byrnes by hitting three-pointers in the first quarter. Spartanburg Day came back and took back the lead at 39-37 going to the half.
Both teams took the lead and keeping the capacity crowd on pins and needle in the second half. Zion Williamson who ended Trinity-Byrnes bid to dethrone the champion with several trips to the foul line. Bishop Richardson (2019) scored 13 points and Chandler Lindsey (2018) added 12 points fro the Griffins who improved to 28-6.
McFadden scored a team-high 28 points and grabbed 12 rebounds and Miles added 17 points in the loss. Trinity-Byrnes ends the season at 22-10
Christian Academy of Myrtle Beach will play the defending champions Spartanburg Day School in the State Championship on Saturday. Game time is 12:30 P.M. at the Sumter Civic Center.
