“Overall the season has gone pretty well,” Jeffrey said. “We had some tough losses but we’re getting back on track.”
At one point the Quarriers actually lost four games in a row after being one of the state’s hottest teams winning six in a row. They finished the regular season beating St. Thomas More, Canton, and Lennox to earn a 14-6 record.
Jeffrey scored 13.8 points per game while also grabbing 9.7 rebounds with two blocks and two assists. He’s shot 54 percent from the field taking 10-11 shots a game including a three point percentage of 42 (made 20 of 48 threes).
It’s safe to say that Schuch was determined to take his scoring success with South Dakota Heat and apply it to his time with Dell Rapids. And it’s worked.
“This year I’ve gotten a lot more aggressive on the offensive side of the ball,” Schuch explained. “I’ve been looking to score more than last year.”
Dell Rapids is in 3A which is an extremely tough Region. The Sweet 16 format has the entire state excited but between top ten teams Madison, Sioux Falls Christian, Dell Rapids, and Flandreau, only two teams can go.
“Playoffs this year will be tough like always but we just got to keep working and hopefully be playing our best basketball in March,” Jeff said.
Schuch is the kind of player that we expect to earn some good college looks from area programs this spring and summer in AAU basketball.
