“For the most part it’s gone good,” LeBrun said about his junior year. “We had a couple tough losses but we learned from them and are hoping to make a post season run.”
The Fliers started the year winning 12 of their first 13 games with the only loss coming at the hands of top ranked Sioux Valley. Victories included Chester Area, Colman-Egan, and Castlewood.
There was a stretch of three losses in four games to Dell Rapids, Clark/Willow Lake, and Sioux Valley again. Overall though this team is 16-4 and LeBrun has led the way.
LeBrun has put up 22.3 points, 8.4 rebounds, 5.1 assists, and 1.4 steals per game. Dylan is making 53 percent of the 15 shots he takes per game plus 86 percent of his foul shots and 37 percent of his three pointers.
Dylan’s game continues to expand.
“I’ve grown since last year, became stronger, and stepped up my defense,” Dylan said.
Next up is playoff basketball and the road is tough. Flandreau is the four seed point wise and will have to win their 4/5 game (heavy favorites) before facing Madison for the right to play in the Sweet 16.
“We have very tough region with Sioux Falls Christian (#2), Dell Rapids (#3), and Madison (#1 seed) all being very good teams but I still think that we have the potential to compete with those types of teams,” Dylan explained.
LeBrun has already earned a scholarship offer from Augustana. Other schools are interested.
“Augustana, USF, Northern State, Northwestern, Nebraska-Kearny, and Dakota Wesleyan are the teams I’m hearing from the most,” said LeBrun
