Gould doesn’t put up huge numbers, but his leadership on and off the court has helped his team, Marysville-Pilchuck. He’s a true floor general that emphasizes making his teammates better and a solid ball handler that can shoot when necessary. He’s also a pesky defender that keeps opponents on their toes.
“I would describe my game as a shifty playmaker that tries to get my teammates involved as much as possible,” Gould said. “I can also be a knockdown shooter if needed.”
Gould wants to work on are using his right hand more when driving to the hoop. He also wants to work on taking jumpers more often that driving to the hoop.
Gould has not heard from any schools but hopes to open up some eyes this summer during AAU. His dream is to play at the next level. He’s constantly putting in a lot of work and effort to hopefully achieve that goal.
“Even if I don’t get a scholarship, the dedication and hard work will help me in the long game, life,” Gould said.
Playing in the WESCO Conference will be a good way for Gould to get noticed. He’ll get another crack next season to showcase his skills in the conference and compete against other good point guards.
“You have to be mentally prepared every night in WESCO,” Gould said. “If you look pass the teams you’re “supposed” to beat then you could lose but if you come out scared or intimidated of a team “better” than you you’ll lose that too.”
Gould is currently averaging 11 points, four assists, three rebounds and two steals per game this season.
