Xavier, Notre Dame, Arizona, Ohio State and Michigan already have their sights set on the U of D-Jesuit sophomore. And this summer could be a big one one for Thomas.
“This summer I look forward developing my ball-handling skills and guard skills, and being able to shoot the jumper. I just want to become a complete player in both sides of the ball,” he said.
“For recruitment I would like to get some offers this summer. And I really like Michigan. But I got some time left for all the recruitment, and I don’t know specifically where I might want to go yet.”
Michigan’s 14th-ranked 2017, Thomas emphasized the fact that he wants to diversify his skill-set, and become for of a wing threat over the next several seasons.
“My strengths are scoring from the post, I have a pretty good hook-shot I’d say, and good moves around the basket. I have a good mid-range jumper as well, and my free-throws are something I work on a lot,” said Thomas.
“I need to work on my guard and ball-handling skills, so I can be developed as a big-man and have guard skills. I want to be able to dribble and shoot 3s, and be able to attack off the dribble.”
This season, Thomas is coming off the bench for a very talented Cubs squad. The goal is to is to continue to better himself as a player, and prepare himself for when he takes the reins of the team the next two seasons.
“I’ve gotten a lot of playing time this season compared to last year, and I’m bigger and stronger than I was last year,” said Thomas. “And I just need to get getting better and prepare myself for when I might start next season as a junior.”
