One of the big reasons for the season that The Hurricanes have had so far this season are senior Jeremiah Neubia, a 5-foot-10 guard who is averaging right at 12 points per game to go along with 4 rebounds. He teams up in the back-court with one of the top juniors in the state, Trey McGowens. The tandem scored 44 points for Wren in the win over Greenville HS to claim the region championship.
To my surprise the only school that Neubia told me was showing interest in him for basketball was USC-Salkehatchie (JuCo in South Carolina). Neubia is a strong built combo guard that can finish in the lane and can get up and down the court in a hurry. He has a nice stroke from outside of the three -point line and can consistently knock it down. He explains his game as ” all around player, looks for ways to get teammates open, never complains about the situation the team is in, always looking for a challenge, loves to play defense because it helps to get me started on offense. I have a killer instinct.” Neubia brings a sense of energy when he steps out on the floor that can’t be taught. He has the same type of “chip” on the shoulder that McGowens has and it will help them during this time of the season to have it. Neubia is also a standout football player for Wren High School.
Wren High School will host Richland-Northeast High School on Wednesday, February 15th in the first-round of the playoffs. Richland Northeast comes into this game with a 8-12 overall record on the season. With a win the Hurricanes will face Travelers Rest High School or South Aiken High School.
