Player Of The Week: Jack Sorenson
The last week in January was fantastic for Jack Sorenson. In a win against Shakopee, Jack scored 17 points, which put him over 2,000 for his career and secured the all-time school career scoring mark. He then added 26 points on Friday against Prior Lake, including a half-court, game-typing shot to go to overtime.
And to cap it all off, the Lakeville South community provided him more than 2,400 votes in the NHR Player Of The Week voting presented by Intensive Basketball Camps.
After getting in contact with Lakeville South’s head coach Nick Gruhlke, he was quick to compliment his senior guard on the example he sets for everyone around him.
“Jack has set the tone for all of the younger kids in the program,” Gruhlke said. “The amount of time he has spent in the gym is a direct reflection of his skills and achievements. You don’t just set school records for scoring and assists by showing up to practice. It takes dedication and a lot of work to become a great player. He has been a good teammate and really just wants to win games.”
Sorenson is also one of the top uncommitted senior talents in the 2017 class.
“Jack is not too concerned with his recruiting right now,” Gruhlke added. “He just wants to finish this season on a positive note. I know he has talked to a couple junior colleges, and Mankato State has been in touch with him at some point this season. So at the end of the season, he will just take a look at what his options are and then make a decision.”
Congrats again to Jack, someone who we at NHR have certainly enjoyed watching over the years.
