It is time for our detailed scouting report on the event. Here is part one of our 2018 scouting report!
SG Colton Sandage (Bloomington – 2018)
Sandage is a 6’2” shooting guard that is known for his perimeter shooting. He certainly showed that off against Marian Catholic. The junior connected on four triples in the contest. He hit several off the catch and even drilled one in step back fashion. Sandage mixed in a couple drives to the hoop along the way. Rebounds well for position. Should be tracked as a small college prospect in the junior class. He had 21 points.
G Patrick Fisher (Bloomington – 2018)
Fisher is a prospect that is a bit under the radar for Bloomington, but always brings a solid performance to the table. He is a thicker bodied guard that scores in a variety of ways. Hit a three, mid-range jumper, runner, scored on a back cut, and got the charity stripe where he hit 5-6. Not an overly explosive guard, but just gets stuff done. He had 14 points, 6 rebounds, and 6 dimes.
PG Chase Adams (Marian Catholic – 2018)
Adams first half was about as good as we have seen out of the point guard. He used his vision to run the team and played with good pace. Didn’t rush things and made quality decisions with the ball. Pushed it in transition with his speed. Quick off the bounce with a first step that is hard to contain. Likes to find shooters when in the lane for threes. All of his scores came in the paint on layups or short jumpers. He struggled a bit in the second half with a couple turnovers. Finished with a double double of 10 points and 10 assists.
SF Victor Akinyemi (Marian Catholic – 2018)
At 6’3” Akinkyemi has broke out in the second half of the season. He is an active rebounder and a tough defender. Improving as a scorer especially with his jumper as he hit a couple threes. A bit wild with the ball at times. He had 10 points and 6 rebounds.
SF Torrence Watson (Whitfield, MO – 2018)
Watson is one of the elite prospects in the Missouri 2018 class. He really struggled early in their game against Peoria Manual. The 6’4” strong and athletic wing couldn’t get it going. He was over dribbling a ton on the perimeter which led to turnovers and taking forced jump shots that weren’t connecting. It was apparent that the three point shot wasn’t going to fall as he finished 1-7 from deep. He started attacking the basket more in the second half. Used his size and explosive first step to get in the lane where he either converted or got to the foul line where he made 11-14. Did hit a pair of mid-range jumpers. Has good form and elevation from mid-range pulling up off the bounce. Watson was solid on the glass as well. He finished with 26 points and 9 rebounds. Not bad for an “off game.” High-major prospect out a stellar group of 2018 prospects in Missouri.
SG Tim Finke (Champaign Central – 2018)
The state’s #2 2018 prospect played absolutely as hard as I have ever seen him. He played all out from start to finish. He has the physical tools with plus size for the position along with improving strength. Quality athlete that has a high IQ for an off guard. Finke was absolutely spectacular shooting it from three early in the game. He drilled one after another after another. He moves well without the ball and is ready to let it fly as soon as it touches his hands. Pure stroke with elevation off the floor. Finke has to be watched in transition as he can run into a three with ease. Showed off his athleticism on several plays including a huge block, monster dunk, and several transition finishes. Finke did a nice job getting on the glass throughout the contest. Had several offensive rebound put backs. He had 30 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals. High-major prospect!
PG Bailey Dee (Champaign Central – 2018)
Dee is a strong and stocky 5’10” point guard that came alive in the second half of their contest against Larkin. After a quiet start to the game he ignited them as he caught fire from three. Dee drilled multiple pull up threes where he was in rhythm and shot it with confidence. Had one move in particular off the bounce that was outstanding where he shot faked, blew by his man, and finished in the paint. Dee had 18 points. Needs to be on the low-major/D2 radar.
C Jalen Shaw (Larkin – 2018)
Shaw continues to elevate his stock. We bumped him up to the #1 center in the 2018 class in the latest rankings after we saw his improvement in the first half of the high school season. That continued at the O’Fallon Shootout! He has legit size and length at 6’10” to play at the next level. Used to be more of a mechanical big man, but he has really grown into his body and is looking a lot more fluid with his post moves. Shaw has an outstanding right handed jump hook. With his improved footwork in the paint he can seal off his man, use up and under moves, and has an effective spin in the lane. When he is aggressive with the ball he can be a very good low post scorer. Shaw is also a quality rebounder high pointing boards. He blocks shots with his length and is actually an underrated passer out of the post. Projects as a mid-major prospect. He had 20 points, 8 rebounds, 3 blocks, and 4 dimes.
SG Anthony Lynch (Larkin – 2018)
Lynch was the one that started off hot. He scored all 10 of his points in the first quarter. This 6’3” shooting guard brings the ability to score off the bounce to the table. Really has improved his handles over the last year. Slippery through traffic getting to the hoop. Slightly above average passer for an off guard. Potential D2 prospect.
